About NERIS Integration

The National Emergency Response Information System (NERIS) is a modern, cloud-based platform that replaces the legacy NFIRS system. This integration allows Kane County to:

Submit to Federal Systems:
  • High-priority community reports
  • Verified wildfire incidents
  • Emergency response data
Receive Federal Data:
  • InFORM wildland fire data
  • IRWIN incident reports
  • Inter-agency coordination data
Configuration Guide:
  1. ✓ Official NERIS API client installed: neris-api-client>=1.3
  2. Get beta testing credentials from NERIS helpdesk
  3. Set environment variables: NERIS_USERNAME, NERIS_PASSWORD
  4. Optional: NERIS_ENTITY_ID (defaults to FSRI test entity FD24027214)
  5. Once configured, community reports can be automatically escalated to federal systems
